First Farm post of 2007. Woohoo! It begins.
This year’s crop: tomatoes. Nothing else so far. I saved an heirloom tomato form the organic farm last summer, and, not knowing if this would work, squeezed out the seeds into a paper towel and sealed them in a baggie for the winter. Last week I took the dried paper and dropped it in water to see if any would sprout. I checked two days ago and found that about 40 of them had, about ten times more than I expected. Time to bust out the pellets!

Just add water and:

Each seed is happily ensconced in a pouch of warm peat moss and has a glorious sunny week ahead to enjoy and start growing. I’m going to be giving away a lot of tomato plants this year. I’ll plant a couple dozen myself and still have a couple dozen to get rid of, probably. Come and get them.
