Sunday is painting day, when I get to muck about with oils a bit and keep grinding some basics. The rest of the week are drawing and study days, but Sunday I can get dirty.
So I set out to paint a banana today. Only trouble was, I didn’t have colors ready. Wanting to do this one right, I figured the local of the banana at 2.5Y 7/8, and then dug into my Reilly charts to figure out what other colors I would need for the light, halftone and shadow values. Then out came the student paints to mix them up. Wellllllll, some of these are hard, and I’m a little out of practice, so I didn’t get to painting, and I didn’t even get all the colors I’m going to need, but I’m close. Two more, and then I can start (and I’ll have nice banana colors on standby for future use).
If I can get back from work tomorrow in reasonable time and shape, maybe I can get the actual painting itself going.

Knock knock!
Who’s there?
Orange!
Orange who?

Banana you glad I didn’t say orange?
…I always manage to screw that joke up.
This is hilarious. Are those flavor injectors? No? Color injectors!
You better hurry up or you’re going to have all the browns to contend with soon.
Yes, it’s already changing color. I did mix up a couple more, though: the dark yellows/browns for the stem and spots, which I now have a lot more of.
