…where “work” means art, not work.
This has been a hellish few weeks, during which time, my day-job self made a huge infrastructural change by making the decision to retire the physical servers I’ve been running my professional, personal (including the Frob) and client sites on for almost 10 years, and moving all of my services to virtual servers. Doing so with minimal service interruptions was very hard, and long planned-for. The process is now just about complete, and today I’m back in the studio for the first time in what feels like weeks, with my full attention nearly ready to return to my studies. Just a couple of minor details to nail down this coming week, and it will all be finished. And then, I will never again have to worry about having to replace parts of failing servers, or about being always physically close to them in case something bad happens. Fewer things to monitor. More time to study, and more freedom of location. I paid a heavy price for a few weeks, but it’ll start paying dividends immediately, and for the rest of my life. No more running physical servers – at least by myself, without the ability to hand the babysitting over to someone else if I need to be away.
So. Bargue plate 9 sits half-done on the easel. Time to get back to it.
