Why the U.S. doesn’t have to worry about North Korea

North Korea’s full of bluster these days, firing rockets and threatening everybody and pumping its fists at the world, ready for a fight to the death with the whole world, only nobody else is actually interested or cares very much.

But here’s why the U.S. in particular has nothing to fear from North Korea, even assuming it has missiles that could reach California:

  • China holds North Korea’s leash. North Korea won’t do anything that China won’t let them do.
  • The U.S. debt to China is so staggeringly large that it can probably never be paid off. China basically owns the U.S. economy.
  • Therefore, Korea would be attacking property largely owned by China if it attacked the U.S.

So relax, everyone. The U.S. debt to China will keep it safe. They can’t afford to have us toasted.
